Saint Laurentius church and vicinity in Ename around 1300
The Saint Laurentius church around 1300 already resembles largely the church of today, but its unusual structure reveals its specific origin. The tower of the church is situated in the east and has been added probably by the abbey around 1170. Its main entrance was situated in the west, as the west choir had lost its meaning and was turned into the entrance portal.
