Georg Matthäus Vischer je zaslužen za najstarejšo znano upodobitev Ptuja. V svoji zbirki grafičnih listov, znani pod imenom Topographia Ducatus Stiriae, je skušal ohraniti čimbolj verno podobo pomembnih krajev in gradov na Štajerskem. Ptuj je v njegovi “Knjigi gradov” upodobljen iz južne strani: natančno je narisal vse objekte v mestu, med drugim tudi Mali grad na jugozahodnem delu grajskega griča…
