Scritto e miniato da due emanuensi, Maka Sêdêq e Pâwlos, vissuti in Etiopia intorno alla metà del XV secolo. Ferdinando Martini acquisì il monumentale codice, insieme ad altri, in Eritrea, dove fu governatore, dal 1897 al 1907.
