Funchal - capital of Madeira

Funchal is the capital of the Portuguese island Madeira. The Portuguese navigators who discovered this island in the Atlantic, ran into its surface with a lot of wild fennel. In Portuguese:\ ‘funcho\...’ and hence the name of the island. Madeira is at the same height as the Moroccan city of Casablanca.
