The Poiana Cireșului Upper Paleolithic site is located on the third (45 m) terrace of Bistrița, on the right bank of the river, 4 km from the city of Piatra-Neamț. An international team from Valahia (Walachia) University of Târgoviște (Romania), Erlangen University (Germany) and Aix-en-Provence University (France) currently carries out the systematic excavations.
