Cloche hat with a pheasant pelt

Bell-shaped cloche hats were popular in the 1920s, and worn over the short hairstyles of the day. When fashions changed around 1930, and a more feminine form came into vogue, wider, more open types were worn. Despite protests, all kinds of feathers continued to be worn on hats. This hat is decorated with the feathers and head of a ring-necked pheasant.
