Krogs pastāvēja laika periodā no 18. gadsimta līdz 1974/75 gadam, kad nodeg. 1937. gadā ar savu labo nepārbūvēto stāvokli par Valpenes krogu ieinteresējās Brīvdabas muzejs, bet diemžēl tā laika īpašnieks A. Berķis nav ar mieru pārdot
