The Chindia Tower
Tower of Vlad the Impaler from Târgoviște
The tower was built in the mid 15th century during extensive construction works of the princely court carried out by the rulers Vlad Dracul (1436-1442, 1443-1447) and later, by his son, Vlad the Impaler (1448, 1456-1462, 1476), also known as Dracula/Drăculea. The tower was built over an old church dating back from the time of Mircea the Elder, according to archaeological research. It had the role …
