Saint Salvator church of Ename (Belgium) around 1015
The church of the trade settlement, probably built shortly before 1000, is a typical single-nave Ottonian church, with a semicircular east choir and a square west choir. When the trade settlement disappears, this church becomes the core of the new abbey.
