Krzysztof Szydłowiecki (1466-1532) was one of the most powerful magnates of his time. He was The Great Chancellor of the Crown and Castellan of Sandomierz and Cracow. Because he was the owner of Opatów, he made the collegiate church situated in this town the burial place of his family.
