Central Europe, Tyrol - Plaiting a Pannier
Making of a pannier in the parlour of the Unterlacher-Hof at ST. Jakob (Ahrntal). The pannier consists of a narrow wooden base into which the canes are fitted, which then spread out towards the top and are woven into the split strips of wicker made of stone pine (Pinus cembra L.).
