Harness, hame
A hame is the rigid frame of a horse's harness and would be attached to a padded leather collar. These two hames are made of a wooden inner portion fitted to an outer iron frame, and are joined at the bottom by a short chain. One of the swivelling tug hooks is stamped with the name of the maker, ‘Cooper, Helperthorpe’. The hames were made by A. Cooper of Helperthorpe, North Yorkshire, circa 1945¬–…
